Could anyone from MIT say whether other courses are delivered with the same rule of engagement in their university, and what their views are on this? Lastly, if you are a student, regardless of your affiliation, can you find any sound arguments against this particular rule of engagement in the context of university lectures?

This is an awesome video!! Maybe a half a day in the sound editing lab, it would even be more awesomer-er!! I believe in the "empathetic mirroring" and someone should edit this, especially in respects to Sir Winston. This talk reassured me of the ways I communicate in the social world. face to face, that is. Its what I would do to honor him.

awesome video... im not a very good student. i cant believe i sit through the video/lecture without clicking on something else or alt-tab to my video game. when i watched this video for the first time i felt like i was there in that lecture hall back in college again. and unlike most of my previous college professors, he kept me interested and i listened. the way and how he talked made it difficult not to want to listen (for me at least). most professors cant keep me interested more than a few mins. i watched this entire video twice and shared it lots of people (please do the same). /salute to u phw. learning = time very well spent

#speaking isn't the only thing about communication and some people like to think of themselves as speakers and listeners both but just because you're integrated doesn't necessarily mean you're good at it so or just because you're very loud and and and you know exciting business and make you good at both people very bad at listening but good at speaking but I mean are you there it's kind of a middle where basically to be sure to have that ability to survive in any circumstance basically kind of thing going on so your communication level is kind of to the point and you it's like whatever physical thing that you got to get done you got to get that done so the metaphysical better eat I guess listen to or spoken to so I find it when I was in college I couldn't remember two people I really liked it and both turned me down but not them turn me down it was me trying to get their attention you know there is a girl and I see her sometimes and I get married cuz you go straight to your classes and stuff and I guess I didn't want to get stuck with it I asked her I tried to get someone to ask her like come here and I was like hey would you like to be in a video basically you don't have to show your face it's just your hands and your feet that's what I want to get for your legs I want to get your leg or something like that very low body that's all I really needed and then I was going to ask for like I like you and everything and come to me and talk I was going to do kidnap her cuz he was like well I don't know you to the people and I don't know if you know I was like on a day of going I said are you still on and I didn't get the I think maybe I would be like maybe I'll go but I probably won't say nothing to The matrix Revelations just see about myself but I guess it has to do with Jimmy speaking hesitations so if you're going to see if I can say that there is nothing else when it comes to communication I

Fantastic. In March 2020, I did a presentation on the development of music and dance in 20th Century Cuba. The time slot was 15 minutes. Moreover, the presentation was to be delivered in the French language. I was not a native speaker, was unable to play a musical instrument and had never taken a music appreciation course. All I had to do was make it interesting and get the audience to participate. Two hours of preparation went into every minute of presentation. A story line was created. People are visual, auditory and kinesthetic. The props were designed to engage all three ways of viewing the world. An overall video was created. The first video snippet was of the oldest dance and it was stopped in the middle. The audience was invited to see the frames of the dancers, a characteristic of the footwork, hear the rhythm and imagine the cultural situation. The Spanish had forbidden the playing of drums. Then the video would be restarted. Now the audience participated using their eyes and ears. So how did the dance change when the culture changed and you could play drums in public? How did the music change? Public dance was no longer restricted to the monied class. Everyone in the audience was now tuned in to look for reasons why the dance and the music evolved. By the end, the audience was up and dancing.

Good instruction. Just plese do not draw an INVERTED Winston star (i.e. Devil's star) like Patrick did in this video at 50.18. Hope it was not intentional. To add about the hands in the pockets / behind your back while speaking in public - this has nothing to do with a weapon concealing assumption. Hands in the pocket mean that a presenter is an arrogant, overconfident, having no work ethic and manners (which is slightly insulting), and incapable to use jestures correctly. You can do anything at home but not during formal public speech / presentation. Hands behind a teacher's back look like the teacher is an old man with a back pain walking in prison in prison robe. This looks simply miserable.

There's thousands of daily news media companies who need to note of this information. There are way too many public news reporters and anchors who can't speak correctly. Many of them have speech impediments that never got dealt with when they were youngsters. Then we have small minds in media who give them the anchor job of public speaking every day.

When he rudely told everyone to close their laptops and put down their phones at the start of his talk, everyone in the room should have walked out in protest. I stopped watching his video, wrote this comment and left. I've no idea what he said after that and I don't want to know. No matter how good your talk, if you can't treat your audience with respect you are not worth listening to.

Perhaps a joke can be funny, but to my consideration visualize your working-acts can give a routine in working. and also background music can give a more easy way of working and more comfort. Verbale redenation of your acting can also give structure in your doing. My favourite teacher H.C.L. van Duyhoven at the Graphic Lyceum at Eindhoven in the Netherlands used the Question/Answer teach-methode on sheets. If your learned them out your head, you could get A's. He also use(d) slogans like measurment is knowing. Further can Dalton-education give more result in practice it's like a watch rolling as a circle in to practice, it rolls more stationar. Nice lecture of this teacher, thanks and kind regards.

Start - empowerment promise Cycle ideas three times Build a fence around ideas (eliminate confusion) Verbal punctuation (ask a question) Time (maximum attention) and place - well lite + cased + reasonably populated. Board = graphic property + speed property + target + hands have purpose / not concealed Props = demonstrate ideas + empathetic mirroring Slides = exposing ideas (don't have too many words, don't read, keep simple, no title, eliminate clutter) Face your audience One hepax legoganon Crimes - hands in pocket, not engaging audience.
